Dr. Anna Prades, INQAAHE Vice President, represented INQAAHE at the THEQC International Conference in Istanbul, where she participated in the panel “Integrating Micro-Credentials into Quality Assurance Systems.”
Drawing on INQAAHE’s experience with the micro-credential “Design and Implementation of Micro-Credentials with International Quality Standards,” developed in collaboration with REALCUP, Dr. Prades highlighted the potential of micro-credentials to support upskilling and reskilling, provide second chances for learners, improve equity, and foster interdisciplinary competencies.
She emphasized that realizing this potential requires institutions to understand the role of micro-credentials, align them with their institutional missions and strengths, and respond to the needs of their environments. She also stressed the importance of institutional capacity building and agile quality assurance processes, noting that quality assurance should not be seen as bureaucracy, but as an essential mechanism for ensuring that micro-credentials deliver genuine quality and value.
