The section details the different membership categories of the Network (ISG aligned, Full, Associate, and Affiliate) with their specific eligibility criteria.

INQAAHE offers three categories of membership:

FULL MEMBERS

Are organizations in operation for more than two years responsible for assuring the quality of tertiary education provisions – institutions and programs, such as accreditation, audit or other bodies responsible for the external evaluation of institutions and/or programs.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

Are tertiary education providers, external quality assurance providers in operation for less than two years and interested parties with a major interest and commitment in evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance in tertiary education.

AFFILIATE MEMBERS

Are individuals (scholars, researchers, academics, employers, professional staff) with a major commitment and interest in evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance in tertiary education and a proven track record of involvement in tertiary education quality assurance.

Criteria for each membership category

The criteria for each of the membership categories are described below:

It is the responsibility of the applicant organization to provide the required evidence to inform INQAAHE’s membership decision. INQAAHE reserves the right to refuse applications for membership lacking required evidence.

The applicant organization should have their information published on their website in English or ensure the valid translation in English.

 

 

Criteria for Full Membership

The applicant organization should demonstrate it is a credible and legitimate External Quality Assurance Provider that has been in operation for more than 2 years. The following information must be publicly available in English on the organization’s website:

  • Documentation demonstrating the legal existent of the organization, including year of establishment.
  • The mandate.
  • The vision and mission. A description of the applicant organization’s scope of work with a specific focus on the quality assurance processes it oversees, along with other relevant operations.
  • List of institutions and/or list of programs externally evaluated.

 

 

Criteria for Associate Membership

A) TERTIARY EDUCATION INSTITUTION. The applicant organization is required to demonstrate it is a degree awarding institution for educational programmes at ISCED levels 5 to 8 recognised by the relevant educational regulatory authority in the jurisdiction in which it is based. The following information must be publicly available in English on the organization’s website:

  • Documentation demonstrating it is a degree awarding institution for educational programs at ISCED levels 5 to 8, recognized by the relevant educational regulatory authority in the jurisdiction in which it is based.
  • Mission, objectives and academic programs offered at ISCED levels 5 to 8.
  • Evidence of undergoing external quality reviews by a recognized national or international quality assurance authority.

B) EXTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVIDER. The applicant organization should demonstrate it is a credible and legitimate External Quality Assurance Provider that has been in operation for less than 2 years. The following information must be publicly available in English on the organization’s website:

  • Documentation demonstrating the legal existent of the organization, including year of establishment
  • The mandate.
  • The vision and mission.
  • A description of the applicant organization’s scope of work with a specific focus on the quality assurance processes it oversees, along with other relevant operations.
  • List of institutions and/or list of programs in case the EQAP has already conducted external reviews.

C) INTERESTED PARTY. The applicant organization should demonstrate it is a credible and legitimate interested party.

The applicant might be an organization responsible for a National Qualification Framework, a research center, a think tank, a professional affiliation such as a union or professional organization and should demonstrate its legitimate interest in quality assurance and clearly explain how becoming a member would benefit the broader INQAAHE community. The applicant should provide information such as:

  • Nature and scope of work.
  • Legal documentation regarding its establishment,
  • Evidence of engagement in QA.

 

 

Criteria for Affiliate Membership

  1. The applicant is an individual who should demonstrate a commitment in QA. Scholars, researchers, academics with demonstrable experience and interest in training, consultancy and/or evaluation in the field of quality assurance in higher education over the past five years.
